Home Lockout Service and Residential Rekeying

A door that latches behind you turns an ordinary afternoon into a problem very quickly, especially if there is a child, a pet, or something on the stove inside.

We bring residential lockout and lock work to your address. Nothing about this requires you to leave the property or tow anything anywhere.

Home locksmith calls tend to split into two groups: getting you back inside right now, and making the locks right afterward.

House and apartment lockouts

Front doors, back doors, and side entries that closed with the key inside. Bring identification showing you belong at the address.

Broken key in a lock

Extraction of a snapped key, plus an honest assessment of whether the lock itself survived and should be replaced.

Rekeying

Keeping your existing hardware but changing which key operates it. Common after a move, a breakup, a lost key, or a contractor finishing work.

Lock replacement

New deadbolts and knobs when the old hardware is worn, damaged, or no longer appropriate for the door.

Lock repair and adjustment

Doors that need force to lock, latches that no longer align, or hardware that sticks in cold or wet weather.

Tenant turnover

Landlords and property managers changing keys between tenants across one unit or several.

Locked out of your home?

No dispatch center. No call-center middleman. Speak directly with the technician who will come to you.

For emergency service, calling is the fastest option.

Rekeying versus replacing your locks

Rekeying versus replacing your locks

Rekeying versus replacing your locks

These two options get confused often, and choosing wrong costs money for no benefit. The short version: rekeying changes the key, replacing changes the hardware.

  • Rekey when the hardware is in good shape and you only need old keys to stop working.

  • Rekey when several doors should share one key for convenience.

  • Replace when the lock is damaged, worn out, or failing mechanically.

  • Replace when you want a different grade of security or a different style of hardware.

  • Replace when the existing hardware cannot be rekeyed to the key system you want.

What to have ready when you call

Residential calls go faster when a couple of details are settled before anyone drives out.

  • The full address, including unit or apartment number.

  • Identification or documentation connecting you to the property.

  • For rental properties, confirmation that you are permitted to authorize lock changes.

  • How many doors and locks are involved.

  • Whether anyone or any pet is currently shut inside.

Home lockout questions

Home lockout questions

Home lockout questions

Do you have to drill my lock?

Usually not. Non-destructive methods are the first approach for standard residential hardware. If a lock is already damaged or is a type that cannot be opened another way, we will explain that before doing anything irreversible.

Can you let me into a place I rent?

We can help a tenant regain entry to their own unit with appropriate identification. We will not change locks on a rental without authorization from whoever is legally allowed to approve it.

Can all my doors use one key?

Frequently yes, if the hardware is compatible. Rekeying multiple locks to a single key is a common request and much cheaper than replacing everything.

Should I rekey after moving in?

It is worth considering. You generally have no way to know how many copies of the previous key exist or who holds them. Rekeying is the inexpensive way to close that gap.

Do you work on sliding doors and older hardware?

Often, though older and non-standard hardware varies a lot. Describe the door and lock on the phone and we will tell you whether it is something we can address.
