Car Key Replacement at Your Location

Losing the last key to a vehicle is a bigger problem than losing a house key, because modern car keys are not simply cut — most also have to be electronically matched to the vehicle.

We handle eligible key replacement as a mobile service, which means the vehicle stays where it is instead of being towed to a dealership. Whether your vehicle is eligible depends on specifics we will go through on the phone.

Not all car keys are the same, and the differences drive both the work involved and whether your vehicle qualifies.

Basic mechanical keys

Older vehicles with no electronics in the key. These are the simplest to duplicate or replace when the vehicle qualifies.

Transponder keys

A chip in the key communicates with the vehicle. The key must be both cut and electronically programmed before the engine will start.

Remote head keys

A transponder key with lock, unlock, and sometimes trunk buttons integrated into the head of the key.

Proximity and smart keys

Push-button start systems where the key stays in your pocket. Eligibility varies most in this category, so details matter.

Spare keys

Having a second key made while you still have a working one is almost always cheaper and simpler than replacing a last key.

All keys lost

No working key remains. This is the hardest scenario and the one where vehicle eligibility limits matter most.

Need a car key made?

No dispatch center. No call-center middleman. Speak directly with the technician who will come to you.

For emergency service, calling is the fastest option.

A key job that gets confirmed properly on the phone is a key job that goes smoothly in the driveway. These are the details that determine everything.

  • The year, make, and model of the vehicle.

  • Whether you still have a working key, a non-working key, or no key at all.

  • What type of key the vehicle uses, if you know.

  • Your exact location and whether the vehicle can be reached safely.

  • Whether the vehicle currently starts and runs.

Why a spare key is worth having now

Almost every all-keys-lost call we take would have been a much smaller job if a second key existed. It is one of the few car expenses that gets cheaper by planning ahead.

  • Programming a spare while a working key exists is usually simpler than starting from zero.

  • You avoid being stranded somewhere inconvenient when the only key fails or disappears.

  • Spare keys can be made on a schedule instead of during an emergency.

  • Households sharing one vehicle stop passing a single key back and forth.

Vehicle eligibility and honest limits

Vehicle eligibility and honest limits

This is the part some locksmiths gloss over, and we would rather be direct about it. We cannot make keys for every vehicle, and we will tell you before a trip rather than after.

If your vehicle falls outside what we service, we will say so on the phone so you can go to a dealer or specialist without wasting time or money.

  • Automotive key work is primarily for non-German vehicles.

  • VATS systems are not serviced.

  • Supported model years are primarily 1999 through 2022.

  • Eligibility depends on the year, make, model, key system, and whether any working key remains.

  • Lockout service and key programming are separate questions with separate eligibility.

  • Every key job is confirmed by phone before it is scheduled.

Can you make a key with no original at all?

Sometimes, for eligible vehicles. All-keys-lost work depends heavily on the year, make, model, and key system. Call with those details and we will confirm honestly whether it is something we can do.

Is a locksmith cheaper than the dealership?

Often, and mobile service also avoids towing the vehicle. That said, some vehicles genuinely do require dealer equipment, and when that is the case we will tell you rather than guess.

How long does making a key take?

It varies by vehicle and key type. We avoid quoting a fixed duration because a smart key on one model behaves very differently from a transponder key on another. We will set expectations on the call.

Do you need proof of ownership?

Yes, always, for key work especially. Identification and documentation tying you to the vehicle are required. Any locksmith who skips this step should concern you.

Can you program a key I bought online?

Sometimes, but not always. Aftermarket key quality varies a great deal, and some will not program reliably. Tell us what you bought and we will give you a straight assessment before you count on it.
